I'm an agist.

For as long as I can remember I thought 30 was old. I admit it I am a total agist! I not sure what I think will happen when I turn 30 but I know it gives me MAJOR anxiety. It's a mix of things, gravity is going to take effect, body parts just start heading south, metabolism is going to come to a screeching halt, I have to admit that going to have to put in a lot more "maintenance" time and I already don't like the time barley put in now! Do I need to start scrap-booking rather than blogging and hosting tea rather than cocktail hour? Do I have to ban MTV and watch WE (no offense Mom) but I'm not ready to give up Jeresy Shore for a movie where women steal each others babies!
Best case I'll be referred to as " she looks good for her age" rather than "she a hottie"

So you would think since I'm OBSESSED with being young I would do some age defying things right? I did the total opposite! I just bought an "old lady car" In Mr. T's defense he thought I lost my mind but I have since converted him to my way of thinking. We were both driving two huge gas guzzling chevys. I loved my tahoe but something need to go. We live in suburbia and in order to get off scrapbook island we have to drive about 20 miles each way (minimum). I thought we needed a fuel efficient car! So long story short I bought a 2012 Buick Regal! See I already know what you have pictured in your mind

This car screams young and sexy right? 

When my friend Melissa asked me what kind of car I bought and I said a Buick she said oh wow an "old Lady car" 

But hold your horses people the 2012 is actually really cute! I know it's still a Buick but I'm very proud of myself for buying practically rather than buying for my ego. As Mr. T pointed out I have had  5 new cars in the 5 years he has known me! Yeek! So Mr. T is driving the Tahoe and I'm proudly sporting the Buick.

It's Thursday... Time to EMBRACE

Like last Thursday Miss C was very happy to take over the camera to let me get in front. She gets to take total creative control and we do what ever she says.  This week we actually got Mr. T to play along! Miss C took 87 pictures while doing Embrace the camera today! Here are a few of my favorites:

Miss C is very proud of this pic. It's her booboo she is obsessed with. She is 1 month short of turning 3yrs old and this is the first booboo with blood. Mostly it's the Arial band-aid thats popular.

Here's our picture adventure today! 


Today I got in front of the camera for this little activity  thanks to the insistence of the photographer... MISS C! 
Yep that little smarty took the first two pictures all by herself! For a 35 month old I think they are really good! 
as you can see my hair and makeup team were off today, but Miss C was not realy interested in taking my picture it was more about taking baby dinosaur's picture. He is in my hand. She also loves to take pictures of the lake. I think she has a great eye for lighting!

But of course I had to slip in a picture of Miss C!  she wanted to hike back down Mt. Bonnell rather than take the steps. This is her leading the way.

To make the little adventure all the more fun we ran into some tourist from Minnesota on their first trip to Texas. Of course just like they suspected we all wear boots! Miss C proudly showed hers off to them. Now they can run back up north and keep the stereotype alive! 

And my day would not be complete with out my heart dropping to the floor at-least once. ahhhh motherhood. 
Little smarty pants took my keys (to my brand new, 1 day old car) and threw them threw the fence! little weasel managed to fling them just further than my arm could reach! I had to dig dream in my girl scouts teaching, Oh wait I was NEVER in girl scouts! WTF do I do now? I put my redneck skills to good use, broke off a tree limp and fished my keys back threw the fence.

Shopping in suburbia

You know how some stories are just better told in person? Well this might be one but I am going to give it a shot anyways.

While at a Junior League function the other night I experienced a funny tale from suburbia. The function was held a a little boutique on our side of town, which it's no secret that its a very WASP type community. A friend was buying these cute little tin's that hold tampons and they have 40's pin up girls on them.

 My friend "K" wanted to get one for a  African American friend's going away gift. We looked for a tin with an African American girl on it but go figure there were none. "K" and I giggled and she asked the boutique sales girl if they had any. Rather just just saying no she frantically searched around and looking in the back and finally reemerged to say " oh sorry I think we are sold out". "K" busted out laughing and said "Bull Shit" I had to laugh as well; it was funny. It was so obvious that they never had any black pin up girl tins. It was obvious it was her first request for any type of African American product! No Really we must be sold out!

Hope that was as funny as it was in real life!

Happy Valentines Day

Miss C had a Raccoons class party today at school. The kids we all so cute! I watched Miss C and her two little girlfriends chat while having lunch, they were  discussing being princesses.

Snow in Texas???

I only happens at most once a year if we are lucky, but truly one day is about all we can handle! School was closed, offices we closed and electricity was sparse. We had rolling blackouts all threw out the day but that did not slow us down. Miss C was very excited and we got out and had some fun in the snow while it lasted!

Miss C's First Dance Class

The day I have been waiting for since I found out I was pregnant with a girl has arrived! Miss C had her first dance class! You see dance is very special to me. I started taking dance when I was 2 1/2, the same age Miss C is now. It has always been my true passion and was much more then a hobby to me. 

I don't ever want Miss C to feel pressured to do something just because it is important to me so all I could do was cross my fingers and hope she loved dance as much as I did. 

SHE DID! She Loved it! 

She went into class without hesitation. Which is not a normal trait for Miss C. She is very shy when she is placed in a new environment. She took Miss Amy's hand and got right to it! She came out half way through for her shoe change and said "mommy dance is fun!" I held back tears but inside I was so excited. Finally my little wallflower found something she was excited about. How lucky for me its ballet! 

 She did great! Maybe someone has been working with her on some basic steps for a few weeks now *wink *wink* the other girls in the class are a little older and have been in class since August. They were really sweet and cute as they helped show Miss C the ropes.

 
 

And one more cool thing, Miss Amy is not just any old teacher. Amy is the owner/ Director of West Austin Dance Academy and just happens to have gone to high school with me and is the niece of my childhood dance teacher Mrs Carol. We danced together and even went to competitions together. Amy is a fourth generation studio owner/teacher. I am very excited Miss C is learning from the same family I learned from, I know she is in good hands!
