Big Sister Class Graduate!

Miss C is officially a Big Sister Class Graduate!
(and Daddy got a nice refresher course)

This was a great experience for Miss C. She learned how to best help mommy when the new baby comes home, feeding and diapering. Then We took a tour of the hospital where Ms Pauleta explained things that might look scary but they are not, beeping monitors, IV's, Dr's act.

Embrace the camera: 28 weeks

Let the stats begin!

28 weeks and 3 days

Baby Girl:

weight: 2. 12lb
BPM: 148

Baby Boy:

weight: 2.11lb
BMP: 153

Mommy:

I learned that being pregnant with multipals is a whole new ball game when it comes to numbers. My OB visits are very different than they were with Miss. C. The main focus for the first 24 weeks was my weight gain and how VERY important it is in relation to avoiding preterm labor. I got the lecture every visit but then finally they have backed off a bit now that we can see the weight of the twins is JUST FINE! Perfect in fact. The Dr. is amazed at there closeness in measurements.
I can't believe I'm doing this but I'm about to put my weight out there for all the world to see... deep breath! But If I don't record theses little nuggets of information they become lost in the old memory bank and eventually become blurry memories (see thats how I God designed it we forget the aches and pains and get baby fever and want to do it again!)

So I have a handy dandy chart to keep track of my weight gain

Facebook it? Tweet it? Pin it, really? ummm no!

Twins Pregnancy:

Starting weight: 108 lb

Total weight gain at 28 weeks: 27.2lb

For comparison here were my stats with Miss C
Start weight: 108lb
Delivery weight: 138 lb
Total weight gain: 30 lb

The Bump

28 week bump/measures 34 weeks!

A letter to my belly

Dear Babies in My Belly,
I’ve been meaning to sit down and write this letter to you for a while now…
so that I feel less guilty about my lack of preparation for you.
Less guilty about the roller coster of emotions iv had about there being two of you.
so that I stop worrying that we still haven’t found the perfect name combinations for each of you.
so that you become more real to me.
and so that you know just how much you already matter to our family.
In the 6 months that you have been growing in my belly, life has been a bit crazy for your Mommy, Daddy & Sister.
So crazy, that we haven’t spent hours preparing a nursery, or shopping at Babies R Us, or folding and refolding all your precious mini clothes.
I feel terrible about this. As if the time I spend preparing for your arrival somehow equates to the amount of love I have for you.
It doesn’t. I promise.
I already love you to the moon and back.
Baby Girl your ferocious little kicks to my ribs already melt my heart.
Baby Boy your tap dancing on my bladder makes me smile.
I already know that you two know each other better than I ever will.
I have faith that when you get here, you will give our little family the reality check these 3 only children need…
Help to teach your sister that he is not, in fact, the center of the Universe.
Remind your Mommy and Daddy that they are a team
Soften our hearts.
Renew our Spirits and humble us.
Fill our lives with an added measure of love.
I look forward to our quiet moments alone.
I look forward to your mini fingers and toes.
I look forward to your blinking eyes.
I look forward to all the ways you bond as only twins can
But I especially look forward to learning about all the things that make each of you, you uniquely YOU.
I already forget everything about raising a newborn,
and I looking forward to relearning everything with you- x2!.

I love you infinity x2
-Mommy
PS from this point forward I'll document your growing lives better! I promise

Pregnancy #2 Part 2

To continue the story of pregnancy #2....

If you missed part one you can read it here.

So only the 3 of us knew! By the way looking back what was I thinking trusting a 3 year old not to tell! Making it thru Christmas and new years at my parents was comical to say the least. I was not feeling well and my mom was giving me medicine and cleaning after I touched anything! She thought I was contagious. Trey had a pocket full of pills I had handed off to him because I could not take them pregnant! We had a mini drug ring!
Come NewYears I kew if I did not drink my secrete would totally be out. So I had a special cooler under the DJ booth where I had O'Douls non-alcoholic beer with the labels peeled off my personalized kookie and sparkling Cider.
Up to  this point I had been to the OB to have a blood work test and the results came back positive, VERY positive! So my first ultrasound was scheduled for January 18th. By this point I had told one friend that I trust. I well swear of the high rate of miscarriage at this point in pregnancy and just like to keep the news private but I had to tell someone!
Me: Baby B is Contagious if you know what I mean
friend: OMG I so sorry he does have a runny nose I am so sorry he got you sick is Campbell ok?
Me: Not that kind of contagious
friend:  (after a long pause) OH! Well he is really cute

By now we had put an offer in our house and were set to close January 20th. All is going according to my evil little plan  We are so blessed everything is falling into place. Off to the Dr's office we go! Trey and I love my Dr. I have been his patient for over 10 years & we share mutual friends. He knew it was a big deal for us to have another baby and everyone was all smiles as we get ready to see what I had going on in my tummy!

Ultrasound is on, I see the nurses eyes get big, Dr. Cowan laughs and says you got twins! Trey is dead silent, I said WHAT!? and Campbell jumps up and says "Yeah Mommy look at the screen there is 2 bubbles in your belly" After I argue with Campbell that the ultra sound is blurry the ruling comes down, Campbell wins...

After a lecture from the Dr and nurse (which Mr. T and I admit we heard none of except gain 50 lb.)
We returned to the car in a state of total shock asking each other how we managed twins! Sorry Campbell I'm sure you never water to hear that conversation!

So family and friends there you have it, how we were told we were having
Spontaneous Fraternal Twins! A 3 year old figured it out before me.

Number one Question I'm asked is were you on fertility drugs
umm no and doesn't the look of shock on my face tell you that

Second most asked question is do either Mr T or I have a family history of twins.
Nope, least not in the last 40 years. Looks like I'm just fertile Mertel

How to handle pregnancy woes

Pregnancy woes got you down? Well they sure got me! If you read any pregnancy book or website there is just not much you can do. They all advise you to take some time to relax. Relaxation with a 3 year old and a house to finish... Well that sounds likely... NOT!

But my two favorite girls helped me make some R&R time.

Nap with Lucy

Miss C provided of snack of cherry tomatoes, ranch and wheat thins.

No day of relaxation is complete with out a pedi! Polish and blanket by Hello Kitty

Ok 2nd trimester let's see that pregnancy glow!

The Rest Of The Story part 1

as Paul Harvy would say... and the rest of the story
part 1

So I announced I was expecting back on February 17, here. But I never explained how all this really came about. Don't worry I not telling that kinda story!
For most people having more children is something they have been planning, hoping for or always had on there plan. Not us. Mr. T and I are both only children, it's our normal and frankly we both like it. Actually not only are we only children but our first cousins we are closest to are all only children as well (yes both Trey and I). So like I said it really is all we know.
It's not until I got older that I see the benefits of siblings. I see patterns in my husband and I that relate directly back to being only children and most of theses are patterns and character traits we developed as adults and as I 'm sure you can guess they are not all positive. Enough on that subject it's a post all in it's self!
So on with our story, we adored Miss C from the moment we met her! How could we ever love another human as much? Having another baby was never completely off the table but it was NOT on the agenda. I'm no spring chicken but I knew I still had time. We never had pressure from our families to have another baby, actually quite the opposite.
Seems like everyone around me has had at least 1 more baby if not 2 in the time since I had Miss C. They were proudly planning and scheduling sexcapades with their husbands and even
unfortunately trips to the fertility doctor. I still had no baby fever. Then along came Baby B, my friends second son. It's like the stares aligned and the timing was right and I was ready. Plus Miss C melts every time she see baby B. I mean he has her total attention. There it was, she looked at me while holding that baby an I knew she wanted and needed that partner in crime, that support system, that person to fight with constantly yet always love.

So my plan was put into motion. It was the end of football season and Mr. T was distracted so he did not notice for a month or two that things were a little more regular than they usually are (have you tried doing this activity with a 3 year old sharing your space?) When he did catch on, well I did not hear any complaints, hey this is a man we are talking about here. So if my math is correct it took me about 4 months to pull off my plan. Just in time for Christmas!
Mr. T had no idea! I knew on the first day of my missed period I was pregnant. I also knew I could not keep a secret! I convinced Mr. T that we should open some gifts that night the Tuesday before Christmas, a mini Christmas just the 3 of us. Telling him it was silly to take this huge castle to my parents house. So I whipped up a dinner, made all 3 of us put on PJ's and set the stage. I wrapped the pregnancy test in a Tiffany's box and placed it under the tree. Mr. T has really been wanting a new watch hee hee hee. Mini Christmas began...

did you hear that? Miss C told Mr T it was a pen! I cut the video short but he does actually get excited after a few min.

Drum Roll Please

Campbell has an announcement to make...

The Very proud and Excited big sister to be,
expects her delivery,
August 26th 2012

I learned I was expecting a few days before Christmas just in time to wrap up the news and put it under the tree for Mr. T to unwrap!

The news was just settling in and we were an excited bunch when we got to go to the 8 week ob visit and confirm the news with a sonogram.

Which turned out to look like this...

hummm, something look a little different to you?
It's not one but two!

So make the news Two Due
Sometime in August.
