1st Birthday Wishes

 Double the giggles,
goodies and sweets,
TWO times the wishes,
surprises and treats...

A pair of bright grins
from the time it begins-
It's TWICE as much fun
when a birthday's for twins!

Baby Rush,
You stole my heart from the moment I saw you. Not at all what I expected a boy to be, you are loving, patient & quite. Only for you will I continue to wake up at 4:30 am to see you smile you toothy grin.

 Miss Nixon,
Never have I met a person, grown or child, that has a better sense of who they are. You burst into the world with complete understanding of what you want and how to get it! You are strong willed and determined. You are also very funny and protective of those & what you love. Typical Leo you are turning out to be.

 Happy 1st Birthday
Rush Beckett & Nixon Elizabeth!

11 months have come and almost gone

Where has the time gone? I'm intended to sit down and write this post for WEEKS! The Twins are 1 week away from turning 1. It feels like I blinked and they are not babies anymore sniff sniff. Mr. T said this morning " wow next week they will be one" I said how it has just flown by. It was obvious by the look on his face maybe it has not exactly flown by to him.

Month 11 has been the most changeling by far. I said it a million times that I knew when they got mobil it would be a game changer! Oh has it ever! I'll put it in writing right here that I'm running away when they learn to walk!

Rush
You not only started crawling with great speed but you started crawling on all fours.
You pull up to standing on everything!
You wear a size 4 diaper (and still HATE to poop)
You wear size 12 month clothes
You are still the most loving little boy I have ever been around
you almost always have a smile on your face showing off all your teeth. 8 to be exact with 2 more on the way.
You STILL wake up for a bottle at 4am most days

Nixon
You started crawling about 2 weeks after your brother. Your never going to let him do something you can't!
Your still crawling on your belly
You can pull up to standing but would rather just be carried.
You wear size 4 diapers
You wear 12 month clothes
You run the show around here.  You are very funny
You taught your brother how to throw things over the balconey
Your sister taught you how to "shake" it so cute she will tell you to shake and you start shaking your head and laughing
You still don't like turkey
Your getting 4 teeth all at the same time! It's not pretty. You are waking up several times a night in pain & always pulling at your ears. I put a Amber teething necklace on you. I have no idea if its helping but I'm scared to take it off!
You like music! When ever you hear music you stop and tune in!
You say Dada ... All the time

On the whole:
In 5 days you guys eat (at least)
2 containers of strawberries
2 containers of blueberries
20 Plum organics pouches
10 sprout entree dinners
10 yo baby yogurts
5 string cheeses
1 container of grapes
1 happy baby puffs
3 gerber ill crunchies
2 1/2 gallons of whole milk
32 oz white grape juice
Cheerios ... Endless

Around 300 diapers a month

As the rally is happening on the capital lawn let's join forces and #standwithwendy in the blog world as well !
In case you have not heard...

On Monday June 24, the Texas State House voted overwhelmingly to pass a draconian proposal that would ban all abortions after 20 weeks, as well as adding stringent new restrictions on how clinics get licensed. The intent was clear: Supporters of the bill, known as SB 5, openly acknowledged that the law would have closed 37 of the state's 42 clinics, leaving hundreds of thousands of women in Texas and neighboring states like Oklahoma with no way to access abortion care. With a conservative majority in the State Senate and the support of Governor Rick Perry, the measure seemed certain to become law.
But on Tuesday, Democratic State Senator Wendy Davis, backed by an army of feminist supporters, launched an epic 13-hour filibuster and shut the whole thing down.
Davis began her filibuster just after 11 A.M. yesterday, reading aloud testimony from doctors and women who would be impacted by the restrictions. For the filibuster to work, Davis had to speak until midnight – the deadline for the end of a 30-day special session called by Gov. Perry to address left-over GOP priorities like closing nearly all the abortion clinics in the state and redistricting. This wasn't the kind of symbolic filibuster in name only seen in the U.S. Senate: Under Texas' parliamentary rules, Davis was required to speak continuously and only on the topic of the bill the entire time. She couldn't take breaks to eat, take a sip of water or go to the bathroom. She could not lean against anything for support. If Davis broke any of these rules, the filibuster would die and SB 5 would become law.
Just before the midnight deadline, Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst sustained a third and final challenge to Davis' filibuster – this one on the germaneness of discussing the 2011 law that forces Texas women to undergo invasive ultrasounds – and called for a vote. Hundreds of protesters who had gathered in the senate gallery erupted in outrage.
With the clock still running, Davis' colleagues stepped up. State Senator Leticia Van De Putte, who arrived at the Capitol in the afternoon after spending the morning at her father's funeral, challenged Republican leaders at the podium who did not recognize one of her attempts to speak: "At what point does a female senator need to raise her voice to be heard over the male colleagues in the room?" Van De Putte's procedural mic drop prompted even louder, sustained cheering from the crowd; Republicans pounced on the chaos, trying to force through a vote.

So as we go into the second special session let's

Oh how far we have come!

 22 Weeks pregnant
Twins 9 months old

I have always admired theses doors. Every time we walk past the Central Christian Church I just have to get a picture (which is often! It's next door to Mr.T's office) Wow how my life has changed! One thing that has not changed, I'm still wearing black & white!

May with Miss C

Maybe I should strive to just blog once a month since that's about all I seem to manage these days!
Spring time with kids is crazy! Their social calendars and school obligations are just overwhelming. Throw in the sniffles or allergies and you will more than have your hands full.

Miss C is if finishing up her last 2 weeks of school. She has a recital on the 25th for her hip-hop class & another on June 1 for ballet & tap. She took her 1st Tae Kwan do stripe test last week and earned a gold stripe on her belt!

Motherhoods rights of passage: Lice

I'm starting to wonder if there are somethings that are just a right of passage in motherhood. Pregnancy, sleepless nights, having that ugly little green man in my street to slow down traffic. I think I'll start a new hash tag,
#motherhoodsrightofpassage

This week I encountered another little joyous right of passage in motherhood. LICE. Yep my kid got lice. I discovered the little issue monday morning while bradding Miss C's hair for school. Not sure if what I was seeing was lice I took her to school a little early and asked her teacher to come outside to confirm. Yep it was lice. This lead me on a very education journey I want to share with you because when you have small children ...
LICE
It's not IF but WHEN!

So the story goes on...
After confirming it was intact lice I took to the isles of target to find the best solution. Remember that post about shopping with twins in tow? (Read it here) I'm on my knees reading the RID box when the always perfect  and proper mother from Miss C's classmate see me.
proper mom: "oh Campbell are you not feeling well today?"
Campbell: "I feel fine just gotta get the bugs out of my hair"
Proper mom: backs away with her shocked eyes

hummmm I may use this in the future to get people to leave me alone in the store. I have no shame these days.

On our way home from target with our not cheep RID kit I text Miss C's BFF mother. We were just talking about her battle with lice she a few months. she sent a lot of LOL & LMAO and have funs with that. bitch!
Then she called me. She just got the call and her daughter is being sent home from school with lice! She tells me I have to call the lice lady. HUH the who? No way!

Then I get the email from school. The one where they don't name your kid but since you saw Proper Mom at target you know the whole class knows it's your kid that has lice email.

       Good morning parents,

I am writing to inform you that one of our students has head lice. We are doing everything within our power to prevent it's spread within our school. Please remind your child to not share hats, hairbrushes, or headbands, especially at this time. ....
Our parent handbook outlines our lice policy:
Lupine Lane has a “no lice/no nit” policy. Should lice or nits be detected, the child will be removed
from the classroom and the parent will be called. The parent will be given a copy of our Head Lice
Policy and information on how to treat head lice. When the child returns they must be completely
free of lice and nits and submit a physician’s note confirming the child is completely lice/nit free.

A Note to return to school! What! So my little over the counter treatment wont cut it? If you treat it your self you have to have it cleared by your Dr. So pay a $90 sick visit charge and wait two days to get into the Dr which means missing two more days of school. This blows! It was at this point I had Miss C sitting on the floor picking nits with that stupid brush the RID kits gave me and realizing there is no way I can do this and get all the nits before the twins nap is over.

Panic Attack/Mommy melt downs begins

Now here is the great part of the story. Remember I said Miss C's BFF's Mom said to call the Lice Lady? To make this story less confusing I'll call her Ms S. I'm calling Ms S asking for info on this lice lady. She said "just do as I say Amber! Call her now she is coming to my house at 6:30pm get her next appointment "

at 7am the next morning The Fairy Lice Mother shows up at my door.

Thats right Moms, an in home lice removal/treatment! Stacy was amazing! I could never have done what she did! She was so fun, that Miss C just thought it was the best little spa day! She did head checks to clear the babies and I then got started on Miss C.
While Miss C got treatment Stacy educated me on all things lice. I had a LOT of false information and a lot of useless old wives tells as my knowledge base.

Was this cheep? No. BUT worth every penny. It's about $200. They guarantee their services and if you add up the price of a Dr. visit, plus prescription meds or over the counter products and the NIGHTMARE it is to pick thru the hair I would say this service is priceless!  I would never have been able to focus (uninterrupted) to remove all the nits. And I learned nothing, yeah thats right, nothing kills nits, they have to be removed. If not removed you going to have the lice problem all over again in a matter of a week!

Miss C was lice free and back at school (with a note) by 10am!!!!!
There is some homework to do every night for a week using theses products. Which by the way are wonderful! Miss C's hair tangles very badly and after using these products its silky as can be!
I love that the products are all natural unlike every thing from the store that smelled like nail polish remover and made her hair stiff as a board!

Our Fairy Lice Mother will be stopping by on Sunday to check on us again. (2 followup visits are included in the original price!) I hoping to report back to your a lice free family!
