1st Birthday Wishes

 Double the giggles,
goodies and sweets,
TWO times the wishes,
surprises and treats...

A pair of bright grins
from the time it begins-
It's TWICE as much fun
when a birthday's for twins!

Baby Rush,
You stole my heart from the moment I saw you. Not at all what I expected a boy to be, you are loving, patient & quite. Only for you will I continue to wake up at 4:30 am to see you smile you toothy grin.

 Miss Nixon,
Never have I met a person, grown or child, that has a better sense of who they are. You burst into the world with complete understanding of what you want and how to get it! You are strong willed and determined. You are also very funny and protective of those & what you love. Typical Leo you are turning out to be.

 Happy 1st Birthday
Rush Beckett & Nixon Elizabeth!

Swimming Lessons

Emler Swim School

Here is the program Miss C will be working on over the next 11 weeks.

Aquatots (AQ)

3-year old's who cannot swim without flotation. Themes and games entertain tots while learning to move through the water for five feet.

Advanced Aquatots (AAQ)

3-year old's who already move five feet through the water. Themes and games entertain tots as they learn to swim ten feet and start a rollover breath while swimming.

Super Aquatots (SAQ)

3-year old's who already swim ten feet. Tots learn to swim 15 feet while getting a rollover breath.

X-treme Aquatots (XAQ)

3-year old's who swim 15 feet. Themes and games make swim class fun as tots are challenged to swim 20 feet while getting a rollover breath.

It was a little ruff at first but I think Miss C was overwhelmed by all the people. It's a very busy place and multiple classes going on at once. But I went to the edge of the pool with her and I get to sit only about 5 feet away from the pool. Once she got going she did great. They did not take her under water since it was her first day. They are working on Jump-turn-find the Wall. I really thought that was great. It shows them how to get to the edge then hold on. They also are teaching them to get out of the pool without steps. All in the event they fall in they have skills to get themselves out.
She is a good listener and I think she will grasp the skills pretty quick. At least she will get 4 lessons in before she goes to Ganny's house for her long visit in April. The teacher said until they are 4 they should not be more than arms legenth away at all times if they are not good swimers and that some adult should always have their eyes on the water.

1st Trip to the Dentist

Hill Country Pediatric Dentistry, PA

I'm trying really hard to not pass on my  anxiety about the dentist and get Miss C off on a good foot with the dentist. We did a walk threw of the dentist prior to her first visit. She loved it and could not wait to go back. During her vist she did great but how could you not in this fun place! She got to watch Mickey Mouse in the Tree TV and get a bag of goodies and a balloon. To put a cherry on the cake she got a token and got to put it in a machine and pick a prize.

She got a great review. All her teeth are in and they look great. That was a surprise since she HATES brushing her teeth.

I have nothing but AMAZING things to say about Hill Country Pedi Dentistry. They were wonderful, I want them to be my dentist!

Happy Birthday, RuPaul!

Today's post is dedicated to drag queens in order to celebrate the 50th birthday of the Queen of All Drag Queens, Miss RuPaul.

Drag Race

For a prissy white girl, I have had more encounters with drag queens than you would expect. Hell I live in Austin; what do you expect! It all started when I tricked my best friend Chuck into going to "gay" night at Stampedes in Tyler, Texas. I know what your thinking... gay night in the heart of the bible belt? Yes, it is true even back in 1999! They had one of the best Drag shows that night that I have ever seen to date! Just ask Chuck he LOVED IT!

Yesterday Miss. C, Mr. T and I were driving down (Of course) 6th street and Miss. C pointed out the window and said "So cute!" We both responded in unison "What?" Clear as day she pointed out the window at a passing Drag Queen "She is so cute!"

She may look like her daddy but she thinks like her mommy! Keep Austin Weird Miss. C!

First Movie

Music From Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore

Another one of those things that there is no spot for in the memory book... First Movie. We took Campbell to her first movie recently, Cats & Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore. In 3d of all things! They had children's size glasses and everything. She loved it and sat threw the whole thing. Turns out it was another first too! One we got there Trey told me it was his first 3d movie. He loved it too.

A few "first" that there is no spot for in the baby book

Here are 3 perfect examples of why I started this blog! There are just some things that baby books don't include a page or even a line to document these type of great miles stones in your child's life! So after this year and I print this blog Campbell will forever have a memento of these funny first!

Saturday February 27, 2010- First Family Hike
We took a two hour hike on the Bel Mar trail here is Steiner Ranch. It went great, well, as long as I kept the crackers coming and let campbell drink water from my camel pack (backpack with a water pouch and a long hose to suck the water out) She walked the last 10 or 15 min then we made Trey jog to the car and come pick us up. We hiked well over 3 miles!

Sunday February 28, 2010 Campbell first baseball game and meeting with Hook'em!
We went to watch Texas v Stanford play the third game in a series. Texas won of course! Campbell had the best time. She was wild and wanted to be the center of all the action. She did not nap you see and rather then crash she goes crazy with energy. We were in the third base suite when Hook'em came by for a visit. Campbell was smitten! She had no fear and ran right up to him and sat on his knee. She was not happy when he had to leave. I guess she bleeds burnt orange like her parents! Thats a good thing since she is named after a famous Texas Running back! !
Campbell and Trey
Campbell and Sean "Mr. Bean"
And the best of all ... Hook'em!!! Yes that is his name. Bevo is the live steer FYI

Tuesday March 2, 2010 Campbell eats Ketchup for the first time
I was hoping this would lead to her eating more food but it mostly resulted in a huge mess! We were having lunch with Trey and Grandaddy when Campbell all on her own dove right in to the ketchup. She has never even wanted to trey it before now but something about Elevation Burger just made her try it. She LOVED it. Now all food is just a device to get ketchup into her mouth she will not actually eat what ever the ketchup in on. I swear I don't know how she stays so chunky. She won't eat more than 2 bites of anything!

When you tell Campbell to smile like daddy this is her impression of him!
